# Create assets

## Create a new asset

1. In the menu bar, click **Assets \[A]**\
   ▷ The "Assets" menu with the **Asset list \[J]** appears
2. Click on **\[B]**\
   ▷ The window **Add asset \[C]** appears
3. Select under **\[D]** the[ ↗ Asset template](https://docs.buildings.ability.abb/collection/english-v14/documentation/assets/asset-modeling-create-templates) from
4. Enter for the asset under **\[E]** one [↗ GAI](https://docs.buildings.ability.abb/collection/english-v14/foreword/glossary#gai)\
   ◈ The GAI is an identifier that can be used to uniquely identify each asset.
5. Enter for the asset under **\[F]** a name. \
   ◈ The asset will appear in eliona under this name. Choose a name that is as meaningful and human-readable as possible. Machine readability is not important for this point.
6. Enter for the asset under **\[F]** a description.\
   ◈ This description serves as a help or reminder for users of eliona.&#x20;
7. Enter under **\[H]** the external ID numbers associated with the asset
8. Click Save **\[I]**\
   ▷ The asset has been created\
   ▷ The new asset now appears in the **Asset list \[J]**

If you want to create a floor:&#x20;

1. Please select in **\[D]** the asset template «Floor». This template is available by default in Eliona.
