Pro Tips

Improve comfort, reduce cost, and beat the AI more consistently.

Pro Tips

1. Watch occupancy first

Comfort only matters when people are in the room.

If the room is empty, avoid conditioning it without a reason.

2. Use cheap tariff periods

A low energy tariff is a good time to prepare the room.

Pre-heating or pre-cooling can be smarter than reacting late during expensive periods.

3. Do not overreact

If the room is already near the comfort zone, Do Nothing can be the best choice.

Unnecessary heating or cooling can hurt cost without improving comfort.

4. Compare your action to the AI action

If the AI waits while you condition the room, ask why.

If the AI acts before occupancy starts, check whether it is preparing for future comfort.

5. Use the charts together

Do not judge one number in isolation.

Read temperature, comfort, and energy cost together.

A lower cost is not useful if comfort collapses during occupancy.

6. Time your exit

Turning off all actions or using Stop the Game hands control back to rule-based control.

If the minimum duration is not complete, the game keeps running under rule-based control.

Plan your stop so you understand how your run will finish.

Common Mistakes

  • Heating an empty room with no clear benefit.

  • Cooling too late after the room is already uncomfortable.

  • Ignoring the tariff and reacting only to the current temperature.

  • Looking only at score instead of reading the room state.

A Simple Strategy

  1. Check occupancy and tariff.

  2. Decide whether comfort matters right now.

  3. Act early when cheap energy can prevent discomfort later.

  4. Use Do Nothing when the current state is already acceptable.

  5. Keep comparing your room with the AI room.
