# Create New Modbus Connection

## Steps to Set up a Modbus Connection

1. In the left sidebar, click on **Connection \[A]**.
2. **Select the "Modbus" tab \[B]**&#x20;

   ▷ The list of all existing Modbus connections is displayed.&#x20;

   ◈ This list shows all already configured Modbus connections, if any.
3. **Click on "+Connection" \[C]**&#x20;

   ▷ A new window for creating a connection opens.

1. **Configure the connection** Enter the following information:
   * **Name**: Give the Modbus connection a name.
   * **Schema**: Select the appropriate schema from the dropdown menu.
   * **Address**: Enter the IP address of the Modbus server (e.g. *194.87.82.160*).
   * **Port**: Enter the port of the server (standard: **502**).
   * **Unit**: Enter the *slave ID* of the device (numbers only, e.g. *123*).
2. **Save the configuration** Click on **Save** to create the connection.&#x20;

   ▷ The Modbus connection is saved and displayed in the list.
