# Time Period Comparison

With a *Time Period comparison* analytic you can compare data from a single meter, but over multiple time periods simultaneously, for example compare the main electric incommer this month with main electric incommer last month.

To set up a *Time Period comparison*, select it from the *Analytics type* selector **\[A]**

You will be prompted to select multiple Time Periods in the [*Time Period picker*](/collection/platform/insight-analytics/the-insight-analytics-interface/time-period-picker.md) **\[C]**, and the chart will show the data from the selected meter over the specified time periods as a line, bar or “donut” graph as specified by the *Chart type* selector in the the *Chart options bar* **\[B]**

Custom time periods are not available in Time Period Comparison so you must choose a set time period of days, weeks, months or years.
