# Time Period picker

When viewing meters in *Insight Analytics*, it is necessary to specify the time period for which you want to view the meter’s usage. This is done by using the *Time Period Picker* tool **\[A]** in the Picker panel to the left of the graph.

In the *Period Type picker* **\[B]** you can specify that the Time Period is either

* Preset time periods such as days (*D*), weeks (*W*), months (*M*) or years (*Y*)
* *Custom* time periods where you can specify a start and end date

The *Period Picker* **\[D]** will change depending on the type selected in the *Period Type picker* **\[B]** .

The Time Period that includes today is outlined in red **\[F]**. The Time Period currently selected for display in the graph is highlighted in red **\[E]**.

The *Period Picker* can be hidden to allow more room for the chart. To do this click the *Hide* button **\[C]**

The *Period Picker* can be opened again by clicking the *Show* button **\[G]**

If you have chosen a preset time period for your meter, you can quickly cycle through adjacent periods (e.g. days) by clicking buttons **\[H]** and **\[I]** at the top left corner of the chart.

### Navigating Custom Time Periods

If you are viewing through a custom time period, you cannot navigate to adjacent dates as they would be outside the range you have specified, so buttons **\[H]** and **\[I]** are not visible.

To navigate you must specify a new custom period.
