# Create a General Calendar

## Overview

*General Calendars* serve as the basis for when alarms are escalated.

We recommend creating *General Calendars* as generously as possible. A *General Calendar* is often created for an entire year.

By leaving out days, you can use the General Calendar to specify when alarms should NOT be escalated, e.g., on public holidays. Keep in mind that you can have several General Calendars and select several General Calendars for each escalation.
